Our school is a fantastic coeducational secondary school and sixth form located near St Albans in Hertfordshire. They are now looking to recruit an outstanding Teacher of English who is enthusiastic, talented and ambitious and is willing to contribute to and learn from the best practice in the faculty. The successful applicant will maintain the high professional and academic standards, remaining up to date in terms of subject knowledge and pedagogical techniques as well as ensuring that the faculty functions effectively as a team.

The Person

You will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have a genuine passion for English and the teaching of English
    Display a high level of professionalism at all times
  • Have a natural aptitude to model the Trust’s core behaviours – ‘We display transparency, kindness and

  • Be committed to the safeguarding of children
  • Be committed to obtaining the highest standards of achievement, and have the belief that engaging learning,
    with high challenge and a focus on developing independence, is the most effective and enjoyable learning
  • MPS (Suitable for ECTs)

The Role

  • Planning and preparing courses and lessons.
  • Teaching, according to their educational need, the pupils assigned to you; setting and marking work (including examinations) to be carried out by the pupils in School or elsewhere.
  • Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of pupils.

Other activities:

  • Promoting the general progress and well being of individual pupils and of any class or group of pupils assigned to you.
  • Providing guidance and advice to pupils on educational and social matters.
  • Making records and reports on the personal and social needs of the pupils.
  • Communicating and consulting with the parents of pupils.
  • Communicating and co-operating with persons or bodies outside the School.
  • Participating in meetings arranged for any of the purposes described above.
  • Accompanying pupils on visits away from the School.
  • Participating in the extra-curricular programme.
  • Providing or contributing oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual pupils and groups of pupils.
