Overview

Our client is a day nursery within a school, for children aged 2-3 years located in Marylebone.  Their new Early Years Practitioner will be a key person to a small group of children within the nursery and will be responsible for planning and carrying out activities for these children, tracking their development, planning for their next steps and supporting all care needs for the children.  In this role employees are expected to assist the Head of Early Years with appropriately assigned duties and to participate fully in the continued development of the school. The Role

Early Years Practitioners are responsible for implementing the Early Years Foundation Stage and supporting the development of the children. Early Years staff are expected to create
and maintain a welcoming and safe environment that encourages and supports the children to learn and develop. They work with other school colleagues and are expected to participate fully in the continued development of the school.

The school promotes a positive, professional working atmosphere that encourages co- operation and values the contribution that individuals make to the school.

Main Duties

  • To work as part of a small team to provide high standards of care, play and activities appropriate to the age and needs of the children.
  • To understand and implement all risk assessments, policies and procedures within the school.
  • To carry out routine cleaning and laundry tasks to ensure the nursery room, equipment and resources are hygienic and safe to use.
  • Undertake certain domestic duties within the nursery. For example preparation of snacks, cleaning of equipment.
  • Maintain and meet requirements for planning, observation, assessment and the recording of children’s development.
  • Establish and maintain secure relationships with the children to support their learning and develop relationships with parents/carers to help further support the children.
  • Encourage high standards in all aspects of school life, particularly in student progress.
  • To support the safeguarding of children in the nursery, ensuring that all policies and procedures to keep children safe from harm, at all times.
  • Contribute to the effective and efficient running of the school.
  • Promote and participate actively in our school culture, which is positive, purposeful and professional.
  • To carry out any training needed, which may be outside of working hours, that is relevant to the job role and to ensure training is kept up to date.
  • To attend monthly staff meetings which may be outside working hours.
  • To attend school events such as Sports Day which may be held on a Saturday
