Salary: £30 – £35 per hour

Hours: Part Time – Flexible Hours

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Science Teacher to join the leading provider of after-school education to teach motivated and well behaved children aged 11 to 16. The successful Science Teacher will work part time hours on a flexible basis to suit their working schedule, and earn a competitive wage on top of your salary from school. The successful Science Teacher will work to complement and enhance the secondary science work children undertake at school.

The Role

As a Science Teacher your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Explaining science concepts to children in an easy to understand manner
  • Showing students how to correctly use science vocabulary to gain maximum marks in Biology, Chemistry and Physics GCSE exam papers
  • Demonstrating to students how to write detailed science answers for 3 to 6 mark GCSE questions
  • Providing exam technique and exam paper practice
  • Keenly correcting children’s work and reviewing mistakes

The Person

To be considered for the Science Teacher role you must be a well-organised, dynamic and hardworking individual. In addition the following key skills and experience are essential:

  • Notable experience as a Science Secondary Teacher with a PGCE qualification
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge in GCSE exam requirements (knowledge in GCSE exam requirements for AQA, Edexcel is OCR is also desirable)
  • A-Level Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics experience is also highly desirable
  • CRB clearance and support from two referees
  • Commitment to sessions on regular days and times is highly desirable
  • Highly experienced secondary school science teaching assistants will be considered if they have confidence teaching high ability science students up to GCSE level
