Teacher of Science – Derbyshire
Full Time starting September 2019
This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious classroom practitioner to join this highly successful department. We are looking for evidence of high quality classroom practice leading to excellent results. We expect a proven track record of delivering ‘Outstanding’ lessons alongside exceptional organisation and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge, understanding and experience of successful strategies for improving motivation in learning across the curriculum. We require a highly skilled teacher who can provide inspirational teaching from KS3 to KS4 and across a range of different abilities.
The post would suit NQTs or more experienced teachers. Must have QTS
To ensure progress and achievement of the students you teach.
To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher/Form Tutor.
MAIN (CORE) DUTIES
To plan lessons which maintain pace, motivation, challenge and stretch for students, ensuring the structure of lessons are consistent with school policy.
To have a thorough and up to date knowledge of teaching and learning strategies at KS3, KS4 and ideally KS5.
Incorporate relevant strategies into teaching eg literacy and SMSC.
Set appropriate and demanding expectations for students’ learning, motivation, presentation of work and behaviour.
Plan, set and assess homework in line with school policies.
Mark students work regularly and provide feedback for students to progress further.
Build on prior attainment, set clear targets and ensure students know what they need to do to achieve them.
Assess, record and report on the achievement and progress of students and use this information to assist students in setting targets for further progress and improvement.
Actively contribute to a team ethos characterised by constructive working relationships and mutual support within the department and throughout the school.
Take part in Appraisal procedures and be proactive by ensuring opportunities for professional development are taken.
To take part in the school’s staff development programme by participating in arrangements for further training and professional development.
To contribute to the department by sharing good practice, resources and engaging in professional dialogue.
To develop a good working relationship with the teaching assistant and plan collaboratively with her.
To develop good relationships with students.
To deliver lessons that support the learning needs of students identified as Special Educational Needs, Disadvantaged Pupils and other groups of students.
Maintain high standards of student behaviour and good discipline.
Be able to show that students make good progress as a result of your teaching.
Carry out duties efficiently and within given deadlines.
